Jimi Jolley was a true leader of community, playground construction.  He designed and helped build over 100 community playgrounds worldwide. His last projects occurred in developing countries where, unlike in America, children's play is not overshadowed by lawyers, bureaucrats, and manufacturers.

Made of locally acquired materials, his playgrounds addressed the many play needs of kids from simple tactile encounters to elaborate underground tunnels. His death in 2001 was a great loss, but his ideas continue in his playgrounds that he hoped would serve as blueprints for the future. Here in Hawaii, there are two remaining playgrounds out of the seven he originally helped build. The parents of the children who use the playgrounds are the strongest advocates for their preservation because they realize how much children gain from the experience. If you would like to see any of these playgrounds we would be happy to arrange an appointment for you.

"By giving children rich and varied environments that allows them to explore as individuals, and as a group their own innate potentials; the message that they receive is one of concern and respect. A respect that is returned to the good of society by an adjusted and secure member of that society ."

-Jimi
